Attorney Linda Farron Knapp
Attorney Linda Farron Knapp began her practice of law in 1991 after graduating from the USC School of Law. She was on the Dean’s Honor Roll and served as the first law student intern for S.C. Supreme Court Justice Jean Hoefer Toal. She’s worked for almost a decade as a general civil, disability, family and elder law practitioner, then moved over to SC Legal Services to expand their public benefits program and start their elder law service initiative before opening her niche disability/elder and family law practice in 2003. Attorney Knapp is a nationally certified Veteran Affairs attorney. Admitted to the U.S. District Court, Knapp is a long time member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), Elder Law Answers and the National and SC Chapter of the Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She has trained other attorneys regarding SSI appeals, served on the Family Law Committee and sits on Solo/Small Firm Counsel of the SC Bar. She’s also worked with the SC Adult Protection Coordinating Council and the Barnwell County Council of Aging (now Generations Unlimited). Attorney Knapp has also provided legal education to the USC Summer School of Gerontology, the greater Augusta-Aiken area Alzheimer’s Association and the SC Nursing Home Association and is a dynamic and sought after public speaker. She’s given hundreds of hours in pro bono legal services to area organizations that promote local tourism, small business development, the arts and protection of animals. Attorney Knapp writes Boomer Briefings a column on elder law for Mature Times, a monthly publication with the Aiken Standard.
Attorney H. Marie V. Young
Attorney H. Marie V. Young a former assistant solicitor with the Eighth Judicial Circuit in the Abbeville area, is an associated attorney focusing on family law, special needs planning, and estate planning. A native of South Carolina, Attorney Young earned her juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity and served as a peer mentor. She worked as a research assistant for the former dean of the Law School and as a law clerk for a solo practitioner in the Columbia area. Attorney Young studied international law at the Honorable Society of Gray's Inn in London, England. In 2004, Attorney Young earned her Bachelor of Arts in History, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina. While in college, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and served as both a page and legislative aide for the South Carolina House of Representatives. Attorney Young is a member of the ABA Family Law Section and S.C. NAELA. Attorney Young is a nationally certified SC guardian ad litem and nationally certified Veterans Benefits attorney. She enjoys time with her husband, travel, singing and acting.
