Listen to someone mention the word Texas and you probably think of oil derricks and cowboys, but did you know that Texas is becoming one of the premier destinations for cyclists? It’s true, select universities in the Lone Star state offer some of the only collegiate cycling programs and scholarships in the country. Texas also plays host to numerous cycling races from criteriums to distance races that attract participants from all over the globe. One of the oldest and best well-known is the “Hotter ‘n Hell Hundred” held every August in Wichita Falls. The premise is simple: participants ride their bicycles 100 miles in near triple digit temperatures. Who would willingly choose to do such a thing? One such person is Knapp Law Firm’s legal assistant and law clerk, Skye who was born in Texas and who makes the pilgrimage there every few years to ride this iconic race with family and friends. As she told someone who recently asked what would possibly motivate such a decision, “I just took the bar, how hard can it be?”
