Law Clerk Competes in Vienna

In April, Knapp Law Firm’s very own clerk, Skye Lowry, competed in an international law competition in Vienna, Austria as part of the USC Vis Moot Arbitration team. Over 380 teams from over 60 countries competed in intense arbitration proceedings in front of tribunals made up of arbitrators from all over the globe. The USC team argued directly against teams from Bosnia, Finland, Albania, and Turkey over a week of fierce competition.

Previously, the USC team competed in pre-moot competitions in New York City and in Atlanta where they took third place.

Knapp Law Clerk Graduates Law School

The Knapp Law Firm is one step closer to adding an outstanding attorney to the firm. On May 10th, legal assistant Skye Lowry graduated from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law. Skye was involved in the Christian Legal Society, Federalist Society, and Phi Delta Phi student organizations and was on the editorial board of the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business where she held the title of Senior Articles Editor. Skye also competed on the Vis Moot team where she and her team members competed in international commercial arbitration proceedings against teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Bosnia, Finland, Albania, China, Indonesia, Kenya, Germany, and Turkey. The Knapp Law Firm wishes Skye the best of luck as she studies to take the Bar Exam later this summer.

Knapp Law Firm Clerk Competes in NY

On February 22 & 23 our law clerk, Skye Lowry, competed in the Fordham University School of Law Invitational for the 19th Annual Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot in New York, New York. Skye is in her third and final year of law school and has been a part of the Vis Arbitration Tribunal at the University of South Carolina Rice School of Law. This competitive team squares off against teams from all over the world in mock arbitration tribunals, settling contractual commercial dispute scenarios.

At this particular pre-moot, Skye and her “co-counsel” went head-to-head against current world champions Bucerias Law School (Germany) and also the University of Munster (Germany). Other members of the USC team faced off against teams from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Germany, and the United States.

Pre-moot competitions like this one are key for helping teams prepare for the moot competition being held in Vienna, Austria in April. Skye will be traveling with her team to Vienna to compete against 300 institutional teams representing over 60 different countries.

A little something for the kids

In May, the Knapp Law Firm gifted a 36” 3-story solid wood dollhouse with a family of
four, nursery furniture, master bedroom, bath, kitchen, and living room to The Ronald
MacDonald House in Augusta, GA. The Ronald MacDonald House is dedicated to enriching the lives of families in medical crisis.
The Firm also donated a townhouse styled dollhouse with sliding barn doors, two
horses and several rooms, and a small structure that can double as a schoolhouse
or grocery store to First Steps in Barnwell. Five people and all accessories were
included. The Children’s Place in Aiken received a 24” ranch styled dollhouse with a
porch and a family and all accessories – bathroom, kitchen, living room, etc. All
these homes are solid wood, designed to withstand the wear and play use of young
children.
